I also see "All My Files" which is, at least for me, not very useful. I do see Documents, which is one folder inside your home folder. Also, in your picture I can see that you don't have your home folder in the sidebar. Click on Finder, then Preferences and follow what I suggested. So in your picture, Finder has the focus and the top bar shows the actions you can take in Finder. Unlike Windows, OSX changes the top bar, as it is called, depending on which application has what is called the focus, that is, which application you are actually working in at the moment. The top menu is the green bar at the top of your screen. Please help, I am getting pretty frustrated. I looked at the storage and a large amount of it is gone, I only have some 35 GB left, that means the data is there. I know other people have had this problem, and yes, there is a new user on the computer, I logged into that new user - which has the name of my old laptop so it was a no-brainer - and they are nowhere to be found.

Now, I've been looking all morning all around my mac to find the files and I just have no idea where they are. So now, I ran it again last night and it worked! Yay! It ran all night to migrate my files, documents and photos mainly, and after about 9 hrs. Frustrated and lacking time, I left it for later.
I still don't know why, I did everything as told, however the Migration Assistant ran for hours looking for the other computer and not finding it. My Migration Assistant didn't run right at the beginning.
So I decided to switch from Windows to Mac and so far it's been interesting. I am a completely new Mac user, though I've been using iPad ever since it came out.
